Excerpts from the album
Introduction – Transport yourself into an imagined world- a firelit banquet hall where a troupe of performers tell a story
Vida: Guillaume de Dalon – “Vida” or biography of this fictional character. The music is a medieval melody “L’Homme Arme” by Guillaume de Machaut, whose subject is about soldiers going on crusade; performed on hurdy-gurdy.
Vida: Ne Raimon de la Tor – another character “vida”. The instrumental intro is an original motet composed in the style of a medieval art song.
Razo: of the Lauzingers – “razo”, or short story, advancing the plot. Lauzinger is a term used in troubadour poetry – it refers to the ‘bad guy’ who tries to destroy a secret romance
Vida: Assam d’Hallah –The melody here is ‘Uskadoura’, I thought it befitting my foreign-born character
Tenson V –A final verse of my tenson – a medieval poetic device; with a luscious instrumental background.
